It goes without saying that Vitamin C is an essential part of your diet. A lot of conjecture surrounds this type of vitamin in its involvement in helping prevent everything from colds& the common flu to Cancer. So Vitamin C is surrounded by myths and facts that may or may not be true. But what we do know for sure is, you can’t miss out this vital vitamin and here’s why.

The lack or deficiency of Vitamin C causes regular nosebleeds, dry hair and splitting, brittle nails, rough, dry and scaly skin, gingivitis and bleeding gums, decreased ability to ward off infections, among others. A salad made with cauliflower, spinach and peas with an orange vinagrette increases your body’s propensity to absorb iron, potassium and folates.

Vit C also helps in reversing the wear & tear caused within your body due to it’s abilityof creatingnatural collagen. Yes, it’s that stuff the Kardashian-Jenners are known to inject themselves with. The body uses it to make skin, tendons, ligaments and blood vessels. It also uses this vitamin to repair and maintain cartilage, bones and teeth, to heal wounds and to form scar tissue.

Vitamin C is hella important if you want to curb the damage caused by free radicals that we are exposed to in the environment due to air pollution, cigarette smoke and ultraviolet light from the sun. Vitamin C is also necessary for creating ATP, dopamine (Happy hormone), peptide hormones, and tyrosine.

So you don’t want to miss out on some of the goodness Vit C gives you. And the easiest way to do so is to include it in your diet by introducing your body to foods that have high content of the vitamin in them. We all know about the regular citrus and berries that carry high amounts of this powerful vitamin, but you probably never thought some of these foods contain Vitamin C too.
